Games for your mom - Reviews

1.) Ribbet - basic triangle peg game. Simple art concept which is the ribbet has to jump over other ribbet until there is one remaining to win the game. Simple concept. Repetitive. Easy to play and a time killer kinda game. Not very exciting.

2.) Home Design Game - intricate design game that can be played in a group with friends in which they design the interior of a room similar to a room in the Sims. The mom must design all colors, furniture, rugs, etc and the winner based on peer judges will win a prize from a corporate sponsor. This is very similar to my Stampin Up game idea in gameplay and features of the game. I like this game idea a lot.

3.) Roommate Rumble - you have to escape or get your roommate kicked out of the room. many different annoying characters. Didnt get a feel for any type of gameplay control, or interface. Sounds like a low end version of the game "Bully" (as played on XBox, PS3, Wii). Winning the game is getting rid of the roommate. I wasnt feeling this game and I doubt my mom would play it.

4.) Photography Game - Nature photography game. Interesting idea. Could be done over variety of landscapes. Points given for better or action shots. Like the simple concept and I dont know of any photograph games out right now on the market but I dont know how many people might play this. Graphically the photo quality is really cool but I dont know if it will hit a wide enough of an audience.

5.) Triangles - Move shapes around on screen to create triangles. Very simple and no complex rules which might appeal to moms who dont want to think much. Can be played on an iphone or any console where you can drag and drop shapes. Good time killer and could be addictive. Unlimited levels is good too and could be a fun game for others people then mom too. Would definately give this game a try.

Over 40 Mom's Dominate Online Games?!!?

Personally, I think this is a bogus study because they don't say what they are saying. I can't remember the last time I was playing Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, or any other online platform game and been sniped by a mom.

These women have to be playing Snood, tetris, Bejeweled or any other addictive skill-less game.

  What do you think?

Game Review: BLOXORZ

At first glance, Bloxorz has a Tetris type feel for the new millennium. Bloxorz’s objective is to roll and stand up a rectangular block through each stage and insert it into the square hole at the end of each playing field.  Bloxorz is a free Flash puzzle game that has a simple concept and yet can be very addictive and challenging.

Graphically, Bloxorz is a simple game set on grey and orange tile shaped squares and the block itself is a red and black textured cinder block. The background is red and black with the black being the bottom of the screen to give the game depth as if the playing field is suspended in the air and the block might tumble off the playing field.

Each level varies and some use bridge-opening switches, teleport, and block-splitting switches in order to complete each of the games stages. The controls are simple in the fact that you use the arrow keys for control to tumble the block around the course and at the same time keeping the block from rolling off the edges. In the later stages the round switches can be just rolled over to trip, but the "X" switches require the block to be stood up on its small end. The last type of switch is a "[ ]" type of switch which splits the block in half and can then be moved independently from one another. Once all of these elements are combined it turns the “get the block in the hole game” into a highly calculated chess match where every move has to be done in order to win.

After being consumed by this game for many hours I was able to complete 21 of 33 levels. The concept is original and has a simplistic feel to it. The design is clean and even the subtle sounds of the block rolling and flipping is accurate and true to scale. Many of the levels are quite clever and the only bad thing about Bloxorz in my opinion is that it only counts your moves and there is no score or timer. It is not the type of game that you can have “bragging rights” with your friend if you both complete all 33 levels. I can’t see anyone really paying attention to the amount of moves but rather if there was a time limit it would give gamers more of a sense of accomplishment once all the levels were mastered.
